DRAGONFLY is a Croatian rock ‘n’ roll band with a female lead singer. Besides the vocal of Iva GLUHAK, the band is composed of three more members: Drago VIDAKOVIĆ - guitar, Branko KUŽNAR ŽAN - guitar and Branko BADANJAK - drums.

The band was initially formed in mid ‘90s under the title The Draggers and played remakes of rock ‘n’ roll classics. The technical and production definition of performance accomplished exceptional recognition amongst the audience. Additionally, the band released Live in Annawe album, recorded in Wartherrase (Austria).

However, the new singer and the new title encourage the band to redirect their music potential and start making and performing their own lyrics. The combination of own music and previous experience of producing perfect sound and definition enabled the band to welcome various well-established musicians. Therefore, most remembered performances were the mutual challenge for DRAGONFLY but also music legends such as Gibonni, Vlatko Stefanovski, Dado Topic, Plava Trava Zarabova, E.N.I., Tony Lee King, Angels and many more. Each performance with one of the guest artists added a unique flavour to already familiar DRAGONFLY sound.

It is important to emphasise that the band possesses high tech equipment and high quality instruments, which significantly add value to the live shows. All year round performances in Croatian recognised clubs and summer tours across Adriatic coast have been repeatedly organised and were continuously reaching excellent feedback from audience and music analysts.

Iva GLUHAK

Born in Zagreb, Sept 3, 1977. Educated in Zagreb.

After secondary school she moved to London where she got acquainted with street culture style. She studied theology and is currently attending the Teachers’ Academy in Zagreb. She also took singing lessons. She is a natural rocker and loves playing hard and living hard. She have sung with the Propaganda band and toured Austria and Germany and also had roles in Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar rock operas produced by the Komedija theatre in Zagreb. The current band DRAGONFLY represents the very gist of her music interests and she loves cooperating with Croatian music legends.

Drago VIDAKOVIC

Born on April 18, 1959. He was educated in Sisak and Zagreb.

Music is his first love. He is a self-taught guitarist. Music was his hobby and he collaborated with DASKA BANK from Sisak, ZVIJEZDE BAND from Zagreb and after moving to Klagenfurt, Austria he also forged cooperation with local bands. Upon returning to Croatia he got back into music and co-founded THE DRAGGERS band and, which played rock standards and made a live album. They decided they wanted more, so that the DRAGONFLY band was founded, this time with a female vocalist. DRAGONFLY is a band which has apart from Zagreb played in Austria and Germany and has been cooperating with some of the most prominent performers in Croatia: Zlatan Stipisic- Gibonni, Vlatko Stefanovski, the ENI band and finally Dado Topic.

Branko KUZNAR

Born in Sisak on Aug. 19, 1956. Educated in Sisak.

Also attended music school there majoring in violin. But guitar was always his choice as well as rock music. Most important bands he had played in are Daska Band with which he recorded the first single, then Zvijezde, his first taste of the national rock scene and also cooperation with TUTICO (managing to represent the former state at the Eurosong and capturing 7th place). He also performed along with Sanja DOLEZAL, Tatjana MATEJAS and Severina. He is the founder of the DRAGONFLY band.

Branko BADANJAK

Born in Sisak in 1958. Began drum playing in primary school and continued in secondary school by playing in different local bands.

With the emergence of Nove Val, he joined the Daska Band (1978-1980) and recorded a single. Then came cooperation with Patrola band’s front man Renato Metessi and the Zvijesde Band was established and BADANJAK was a member until 1985 during which time two long play records were issued: Imitacija Zivota (Imitation of Life) and Mjesto Pod Suncem (A Spot under the Sun). After 1985 most of the original members left the band apart from Metessi. In mid-1990’s, he became a member of the Flexible Frame band playing soul and funk and recording Slowmotion CD for Aquarius Records in 2000. At the same time he started playing with old mates from Zvijesde in the DRAGONFLY band and in 2006 they recorded the single Tell Me So I Know / Come Under My Christmas Tree.

Anita MLINARIC

Born in Zagreb on Dec. 18, 1974 and has been involved in music most of her life.

Anita sings, plays the saxophone and even double bass in the DRAGONFLY band. She attended music school and sang in the Zvejezdice Childrens Choir. Since the age of 14, she has been playing with bands such as Macke, Fantomi, Leteci Odred, Parni Valjak and performers Tony Cetinski and Goran Karan. She spent a while singing abroad on cruiser ships and gathered valuable experience. She also sang at previous Dora contests with the Plava Trava Zaborava band and a duet with Petar Galic and the Andy Band.

Dado Adolf TOPIC

Dado TOPIC, composer, lyrics-writer, arranger, guitar and bas guitar player, and surely one of the best and most famous rock singers in Croatia and ex-Yugoslavia.

Born in Dalmatia, 4th of September 1949, his career starts early in his life as a teenager, in Osijek, as a member of rock bands, Devils Elixire and Dynamite. As a singer he was called upon, by a very popular band in the early 70`s, Korni Grupa, but after playing with them for a year, Dado TOPIC forms his own legendary band, Time, consisting of, at the time, the best and the most recognized musicians. After a period of ten, very successful years, Dado TOPIC decides to go solo, and continues performing on stage, promoting his own, easily recognized songs and music, becoming a legend in his own rights. In year 2006, Dado TOPIC was awarded ” the best rock vocal & composer “, in the past 40 years. DRAGONFLY & Dado TOPIC have performed together for the last couple of years, mainly live concerts, where they enjoy playing authentic rock music.

Dado`s and DRAGONFLY`s success, as the winners of the Croatian song contest, Dora 2007, he sees as a step on their way towards the stars, but he also says ” … more important than the goal itself, are the steps that you take, and the road that leads you to it…”
