(Finland) Hanna PAKARINEN - Leave Me Alone
Hanna PAKARINEN
On the surface, Finland’s entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Hanna’s Leave Me Alone is just as melodic and catchy as the best Eurovision pop should be. Underneath, it’s a straight-ahead rock song complete with aggressive lyrics and a mean guitar solo.
“I know it’s not your typical Eurovision entry”, says Hanna, who co-wrote the song’s lyrics. “But the important thing is that I believe in it. After all, the Eurovision Song Contest is about the songs, not about the singers”.
But of course, the competition is about the singers, too. And one thing Hanna can certainly do is sing.
Growing up in Eastern Finland near the Russian border, Hanna started her career by singing in local rock groups by night and driving a forklift truck at a paper mill by day. Her lucky break came in 2004 when she took part in the TV talent show “Idols”, the Finnish version of the international hit format “Pop Idol”. It didn’t take the Finns long to fall in love with this talkative, friendly, and completely unpretentious small-town girl with the big voice. In other words, Hanna won “Idols” and signed with Sony BMG because she sang like a true diva but acted utterly unlike one.
At 25, Hanna is now a veteran of the Finnish music scene, the country’s best-selling English-language solo artist, a huge concert favourite, and one of Finland’s best-loved celebrities. Even after her Gold and Platinum albums and countless hit singles she still continues to grow musically: on her new album “Lovers”, which also features “Leave Me Alone”, she co-wrote most of the songs.
With “Leave Me Alone” and the Eurovision Song Contest, it’s time for the rest of Europe to get to know the un-diva-like rock diva.
“By now, Finns probably have a pretty good idea about who I am, both as a singer and as a person”, Hanna says laughing. “I don’t think I’m going to be changing anytime soon.”
Hanna’s Finnish fans certainly hope so.

most stupied lyrics ever! bad bad song they don’t have a shot this time! really stupied song!!!
erika May 9
this is so great, i can´t believe finland have risen to such a high level in the eurovision. But of course, she will never beat The ARK!!
Straticus May 9
This is the clear winner indeed! I’ve watched and listened to them all, and this performance shines above all others. At first I thought it was just another manufactured pop tune, then I listened a bit more closely. This performance gets my vote from across the pond in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Straticus May 9
This is the clear winner, indeed! I thought at first it was just another synthesized, manufactured pop piece of trash, until I listened more closely. She has a wonderful voice, she sells it beautifully, and although the music isn’t spectacular, the entire performance works. I watched all the other entries, and this performance shines above all others. These guys get my vote, from across the pond in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mursu May 9
So melancholic. Why must we alla be so so debressed and sad all the time. Rather good singing and chorus but over all not for my taste. Sweden has better song this year.
drago May 9
This one is REALLY crap, if you heard the other song she had for the finnish national finals, that one was really better. This sounds to much like it “has to be harder” than it is. Nah, even France is better than this one…
Creator May 9
Hanna is great, but sorry Bulgaria is better.
Hanna is going to be second.
Bizak May 9
Sounds Great, We have a winner right here, give her the prize and
send others home.
You would think others would lear the lesson of Lordi and allow heavier music artists to represent their country =D
gareth May 9
Nice, beautiful girl and a great song. Winner! Second is Sweden..
Antti, Finland May 9
S0da May 9
Yeah, so dumb lyrics for a not so bad song… A shame…
morningwood May 9

snaku May 9
Saku May 9
I’m from finland and hate this. I cant understand that we sended her after Lordi…what a shame.
Morningguy May 9
Lordi was also shit. There is no one talented besides the hungarian this year. Melodifestivalen is always the lowest form of entertainment. Is it suck so much that you must see it. Its like a b movie from the 80’s!
Smulan May 9
Love it !!!!
epo May 10

>Jaa tämä lihava trukkikuskiko paras? No kyllä kai se tässä >pelleporukassa voi ollakin.
Nii, ohan se ihan hirveetä että naisella on muotoja eikä näytä 10-vuotiaalta pikkupissikselta :/
Cry me a river
lalala May 10

Antonio May 10
An all too ordinary chanson even though it is well done musically speaking

Hannalla on vaan idols leima otsassa. Kyllä se laulaa osaa. Varmasti paremmin kuin hänen solvaajat. Lyriikat laulussa on kyllä turhan ykstoikkoset ja typerät kieltämättä. Alkaa tulla taas mieleen viimevuoden ruottiin muuttajat. Katsotaanpa lauantaina. Alkakaa pakata jo
äijä May 10
Antonio May 10
Oui Hanna, laissez nous tranquille!
Please Hanna, leave us alone!
Billybob May 10
Once again the most worthless country in the world has done something utterly worthless.. This piece is so horrible it even outdoes Lordi´s last year fiasco! Please Russia, invade them so we don´t have to hear from them never again!
Thomas, Sweden May 10
I absolutely LOVE this song. I feel such a shame that we sent some ladyboy from sweden, what will the rest of the world think of Sweden… 5/5
Antonio May 10
En un mot: chanson moche
In one single phrase: an Ugly song
Antonio May 10
A Thomas de Suède/to Thomas of Sweden
Don’t worry Thomas about what the world will think of Sweden since it means Abbaland
Fatarse May 10
Eurovision suscks, this song sucks, but the others probably suck more, haven’t listened to any of the others except Bulgarias song and The Ark (fags) which is worse.
leenailona May 11
Finland ROCKS!!!!!!
Jake May 11
WOW! This song really rocks! I see a winner here…. Finland, 12 points!
Agger May 11
Finland will take the double.
juxjux May 11
Euh…it’s sucks.
It’s sounds really Commercial (Sony machin). The clip looks like a Marc Dorcel’s movie, the refrain is poor, the guitar sweep 80’s (Huey Lewis - Return to the future 1). Beurk.
Certainly because PirateBay is a Nordic Website explains the firt pole of this song.
Not only indeed, because the thirds place of the most pathetic clip i’ve never seen - the bulgarian song - still keep me laughing.
hip69 May 11
phahahhahah… Britney Spears with black hair and guitars,,, hahahahhahaha
hip69, Bulgaria May 11
Rob May 11
you guys need to listen to some reall music, this is just to bad. Lordi is a joke
Miloje May 11

Maffro May 11
wtf, not good at all, whow can this video be in the top
frokki, Finland May 11

> wtf, not good at all, whow can this video be in the top

Indeed, it’s an awful song from an awful mainstream “pop idol” star. (Well, I have nothing against the singer, just the music..)
I’d guess it’s in the top because lots of the visitors of this site are from Finland. On the contest itself it won’t place this high, when the whole europe votes.
skoobeedoo May 11
Let’s be honnest it’s really good. Certainly in the top 5.
Anyway the fatals P. are going to grab the trophy this year.
rfi May 11
ois melko kova homma jos suomi voittais toise kerra putkeen.
it would awesome if finland wins second time in a row
mmm May 12
kinda gave me the Evanescence vibe. very nice! I like!

Hyvä Pakarinen.!

Antonio May 12
VIVE L AMOUR AUF FRANZOSISCH!!!
Magdi Fan May 12
Good, but Magdi is better!
Peter May 12
This song looks like to the sweeden sond last year! It’s not original at all, rock again ! I hope that they wont win !
Master Pierre May 12
The french song ’s the best this year. It’s original, do french love!!! SO ….Vote for Fatal Picard !!!
Pumpkin May 12
Hanna is my favourite. Beautiful and talented artist.
GREAT! This is what ESC needs!
Nicke of SWE May 12
I have to say Finland has done it again! The song rocks great, and 3 minutes feels more like 2. Very good artist!
You have my vote!
Antonio May 12
I agree with you MASTERPIERRE the French chanson sounds one of the best this year. This finish lonamania is not capable of very high to me.
Quiche_on_a_leash May 12
Ahh, this song should do really well. It’s not quite as good as some of the stuff finish bands produce but it’s quite clearly better than the other eurovision style music.
They preformed it well too.
Totuus May 12
Rubbish:
“Jätä miut rauhaan, mie haluun kottiin.”
cheezz May 12
Hell Yeah
Miloje May 13

omar May 14
She is best , and iam really sad becuse she dozent win
DiadoreCronos May 14
Sure it’s not the best rock song I’ve ever heard, but it’s quite pleasant, and I heard twice at least.
I would like to thank Finland for Lordi last year. And most especially because I’m French, and last year our TV speakers were very angry about Lordi’s victory (metal is quite despised in our poor country…).
France has sent a funny song, but the Fatal Picards weren’t in their good role, they are a good band for their lyrics, but not for Eurovision.
